Pastor Conway is a graduate of Loyola University and The Theological Seminary located in Chicago, IL. He was ordained in 1996, in the Methodist Church and became Pastor of Neighborhood in 2003.
Pastor Conway is a visionary and a man of action. He is a strong advocate of community development, and had expanded NUMC outreach ministry to include, after-school tutoring program, working with PADS, Inc. homeless shelter, and a girls mentoring program to name a few.
Assistant Pastor Rev. Roger L. Washington
Reverend Roger L. Washington serves as our Assistant Pastor and Youth Minister. Rev. Washington leadership has shown a dynamic growth in our youth membership. Rev. Washington haswith t worked with the Christian Education Committee as the Senior High Sunday School Teacher. And, from the response of his students, Rev. Washington has been well received. His other duties includes working with Higher Education, Brothers and Sisters, Evangelism, Tutorial Program, and Children and Youth.
Reverend Elizabeth Watkins
Rev. Watkins serves as NUMC Minister of Care. Rev. Watkins earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology form McKendree College in Lebonon, IL., and a Masters of Divinity degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL. In addition to her work with the church, Reverend E holds down a full time position as a teacher with the Proviso Area For Exceptional Children (PAEC) in Maywood, Illinois, where she has taught since October of 2001. Teaching and leading are truly among her gifts. Reverend E has served Neighborhood as Shepherd Helper Coordinator; Tutorial Program Helper; Homework Club Director; HIV/AIDS Coordinator; Women's Day Chairperson; Women Retreat Chairperson; Prison ministry Coordinator; and 8:00 am service preacher. While Reverend Watkins finds a sense of fulfillment in all of her church contributions, she is passionate about seeing the smiles on the faces of her students as they engage in the learning process.
Reverend Charles Murray Jr.
Rev. Charles E. Murray, Jr. serves as the Minister of Service. He is the husband of Janice R. Murray, the father of four children (Valencia, Petite, Charles III and Joseph), and the grandfather of Bradley Jenkins and Alyssa Butler. He served as student pastor of Resurrection United Methodist Church while concurrently pursuing a Prior to that he served as associate pastor at Covenant United Methodist Church in Evanston, as Co-chair of Christian Educations here at Neighborhood, and as co-pastor of the New Galilee M.B. Church with his father, Rev. Charlie Murray (deceased).
Rev. Murray has a BSBA in Business Administration from Roosevelt University (majoring in management), and he’s just completed requirements for a Master of Divinity (M-Div.) at Garrett-Evangelic Theological Seminary. Also he completed a three-year program with the Northern Illinois Conference’s Institute for Congregational Development (ICD) He completed a three-year program with the Northern Illinois Conference’s Institute for Congregational Development (ICD) and is certified as a Natural Church Development (NCD) coach.
